Step 1
Determine your needsPondering a few simple questions in the beginning stages of your outdoor playground planning journey can spell future success:
- What age group will the playground equipment target?
- How many children?
- Looking for traditional or natural play structures?
- Are their specific pieces you want, such as climbers, tunnels, etc.
- Will you need playground safety surfacing?
- Are there existing pieces that the new play structures will need to compliment?
- Are there existing play structures that need to be removed?
Step 2
Determine your budgetFormulating a realistic budget is a key component to successful playground design. Removal of existing play structures, the addition of playground safety surfacing, installation, or even shipping costs all need to be considered. Working with an Active Playground representative to formulate an initial quote can help capture all aspects of the project and create a budget.
Step 3
Design a play spaceAfter selecting your outdoor playground equipment components with your Active Playground Equipment representative, proper placement, spacing, and flow is important not only to ensure compliance with CSA safety standards, but to ensure a dynamic, enticing, and cohesive play space for children. Your Active Playground representative will help you create a playground design plan that inspires imagination, adventure and active play.
